Utel Systems has a PC-based portfolio of test instruments. Software modules for both protocol simulation and protocol analysis are available. It is possible to start with a basic configuration and add more software modules if this is required.

The STINGA SCTP Simulator is a protocol simulator/protocol tester supporting the SCTP protocol, which is part of the SIGTRAN protocol stack. A protocol analyser (monitor) application supporting SCTP is also available.

SCTP simulation The SCTP Simulator is a pure SCTP simulator testing the SCTP protocol. A Conformance Test Suite based on the IETF "Conformance Test Specification for SCTP" is part of the product. It is possible to modify any bit in the protocol to test valid and erroneous cases. This simulator will be supplemented with other simulators with a SCTP protocol machine. These simulators will make it possible to simulate higher layer protocols over SCTP like M3UA, SUA, SS7 over M3UA etc.

The screen to the right is visualising the Conformance Test Suite structure. Each of the subfolders contains test scripts related to the Conformance Test Specification chapter specified by the folder name.

User interface
The SCTP Simulator is the first product in the Utel Systems product assortment with the new and enhanced User Interface (UI) with Office 2003 style, splitview, MDI, message routing etc.

The screenshot to the right is an example from this new user interface. Two simulators and two log file are open: One related to Test Case 7.3 in the "IETF Conformance Test Specification for SCTP", and another named "MyFirstSCTPLog".

The SCTP Simulator is based on a software module connecting to a standard Ethernet adapter or to an ATM adapter like our PIST-ATM card (SDH: STM-1, AAL5).

All of the STINGA products are PC-based test instruments running on Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional.
